Now that you’ve spent half your day thinking about it, it’s time you find a good way to celebrate today. Many of you are probably thinking why. Why do you need a special day for this? Why not hype up the most important woman in your life every day? I’ll give you two reasons: Firstly, I’m pretty sure you’re so caught up during the rest of the week that it’s almost difficult to spare enough time for your family on regular days. Secondly, IT’S (wait for it) THE WEEKEND!!!! Are you still thinking of reasons? Start making plans, already! Here are a few simple, yet sweet at-home Mother’s Day ideas that I personally feel you should try out!
- Get Cooking! : This is literally the first and the easiest thing that comes to mind. It’s time for you to reverse roles and be the mother for a day here. First, think about a dish that she likes the most. Next, think about what yours is and lastly, find a way to make something that falls under either category, because let’s face it, it’s your mom. She’ll half expect it to be your favourite before it’s hers.
2. Family sing-along sessions: It’s often challenging to find a playlist or a common song that interests both you and your parents. If a song manages to achieve that, you’ve definitely found gold. Whether your family has a joint-favourite or tastes widely varying across eras, I’d strongly recommend a sing-along/karaoke session with them. Not only is it immensely enjoyable, but it’s also really reallyyy therapeutic, even if you’re confident about being one of the finest bathroom singers there is. Once you start singing, you won’t even realise how time went by, and it’ll leave you feeling happier than you were before.
Here are a few playlists that I’d recommend by one of my mom’s go-to singers of all time, Kishore Kumar: https://music.amazon.in/playlists/B075GH68G8

3. Pause and understand: Take some time out to think and understand what your mom truly enjoys doing. I’m not saying be upfront and ask, “Mom what do you feel like doing?” No. Please don’t do that haha. Observe and see what she likes. What makes her who she is, and where her safe space lies. Where she’s in her own element. My mom has become very artistic lately. She has her own setup, complete with a sketchbook, pencil, and paints. She’s not a professional artist or anything of that kind, but she has been creating fabulous stuff lately. I’m tempted to pull out a chair and join her soon. Maybe I soon will!
4. Nothing: You don’t always need to have the perfect plan. Just brew up a warm beverage, grab a good read, and sit next to her. Indulge in good conversation and spend some quality time together. Take some time out to know her better, and understand her in a way that you’ve maybe been missing out on lately. Sometimes just talking to each other can be the simplest and the best way to spend time together!
